Org. Setting and Reporting

The based in Bogor, Indonesia is having a vacant position for an internship for “Information Services” with duration of 3 months.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time position.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Centre to which he/she is assigned

The Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) with the goal of reducing poverty and enhancing food security by promoting best policy practices for sustainable agriculture in Asia and the Pacific

The programme:
CAPSA promotes a more supportive policy environment in member countries to enhance the living conditions of rural poor populations in disadvantaged areas, particularly those who rely on sustainable agriculture for their livelihood. The focus of CAPSA, therefore, is to network and collaborate with national agricultural research centers in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, promoting and coordinating research, highlighting and disseminating research findings; and converting the results of research into relevant policy options and strategies. Gender mainstreaming is envisioned to become an important component of knowledge sharing and policy advocacy in the overall research agenda.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) has an opening for an internship for a three-month period, to be attached to our information services.

The intern will assist the information services unit to:

1. improve and enhance CAPSA information materials in particular the management and development of electronic resources
2. improve and enhance CAPSA web page
3. explore more on the Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service, its concept and applications

Education

Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school(second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least fours years of full-studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Be computer literate in standard software applications;

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

Have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
