Org. Setting and Reporting

The Organizational Development and Staffing Unit (Learning Team) of the Human Resources Management Section, seeks candidates for an internship opportunity for a period of 3 months with the possibility of an extension, pending on the needs of the department.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

UN internships are unpaid and normally full-time (five days or 35 hours per week). Please note that the hours/days of this internship are negotiable with the Office to which successful candidates are assigned.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Learning Manager (LM), the main task of the intern will be to improve the ODSU website. Related duties:

• Coordinate with Learning Team (LT) members in the preparation and validation of material to be posted on the website;
• Create / revamp the ODSU web page which is attractive, comprehensive, user-friendly, easy to understand and navigate;
• Produce a graphic lay-out of (all) Learning page(s), in line with the requirements of the LT, apply UNESCAP graphic standards and ensure presentation of developed contents is made in a clear, concise and vivid manner;
• Test and quality ensure the web page, identify and resolve all identified problems;
• Upon request, provide suggestions for enhanced navigation and structure;
• Upon request from the, liaise with relevant UNESCAP Sections such as Information Management Communication and Technology Section (IMCTS), Strategic Communication and Advocacy Section (SCAS).

Education

Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school(second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least fours years of full-studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Be computer literate in standard software applications;

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

Have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
