JOB CONTENT
The job holder will report directly to the Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Section Manager of the Experts Department of the Certification Directorate, and will assist Project Certification Managers (PCMs) and Certification Teams in dealing with the day-to-day regulatory activities for projects being conducted by the Agency.
In the context of this post, environmental control systems (ECS) cover Bleed Air, Air Conditioning, Pressurisation, Ice Protection and Oxygen Systems.
He/she will in particular be responsible for:
- Verifying the demonstrations provided by applicants for compliance with applicable airworthiness and operational requirements in the domain of environmental control systems, under the coordination of the Project Certification Manager and in cooperation with experts of other disciplines. This will include working on projects ranging from large aircraft, to general aviation and rotorcraft;
- Contributing to the approval of repairs, changes, service instructions and Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) on corresponding products;
- Ensuring continuing airworthiness of products by investigating service defects relevant to aircraft ECS and taking the necessary actions to maintain safety standards;
- Participating in the development of interpretations of existing airworthiness requirements to cover new technologies, new applications of existing technology, and new proposals for compliance showing, where necessary;
- Contributing to the development of new airworthiness requirements, including relevant parts of Aircraft Certification Specifications and advisory and guidance material in co-operation with the EASA Rulemaking Directorate, when required;
- Providing a source of assistance within the Agency to flight standards activities, organisation approvals, accreditation activities, standardisation and training, and safety recommendations;
- Providing a source of assistance and expert advice outside the Agency (i.e. industry, academic organisations and governments, etc.).

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHERREQUIREMENTS
A. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all the eligibility criteria by the deadline for submitting applications, as specified in this vacancy notice:
- At least a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more and, after having obtained the university degree, at least 6 years of professional experience;
OR
At least a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is three years and, after having obtained the university degree, at least 7 years of professional experience;
OR
Where justified in the interest of the service, professional training of an equivalent level, in a relevant technical domain and, after having completed the professional training, at least the professional experience indicated in the table below:

- Thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Communities and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the Communities to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties;
- Be a national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland;
- Be entitled to the full rights as a citizen;
- Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws on military service;
- Meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
- Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post.

B. SPECIFIC COMPETENCES AND SKILLS
1. Essential requirements
- The professional experience required under part A must have been acquired in a similar technical environment to that of the activities outlined in the job description with a minimum of 3 years acquired in the field of environmental control systems design or certification or in positions related to the activities contained in the job description;
- Experience on environmental control systems design taking into account safety regulatory requirements;
- Experience on environmental control systems certification including testing, gained in the industry or when working for a National Aviation Authority;
- Knowledge of technical and safety requirements relevant to environmental control systems, as shown by professional experience and/or training;
- Good command of both written and spoken English.
2. Advantageous requirements
- Professional experience in an international environment;
- Knowledge of the Member States, foreign organisations and the Industry within the scope of this job description, as shown by professional experience and/or training;
- Knowledge of certification processes including certification specifications, related administrative and technical procedures and material in the domain of environmental control systems,
- Post-graduate studies in one of the fields related to the job description;

- Effective organisation skills.
