Researcher, (F/M), one-year contract on a full-time basis, based in Luxembourg
Job Profile
The successful candidate will exclusively work for certain and time limited EU funded projects recently awarded to our Centre. He or she will take on a number of specific research tasks related to the preparation of studies on judicial training for various legal professions. The studies include preparation and collection of questionnaires, summarising the results of the questionnaires and preparing comparative analyses of legal systems and the judicial training systems in the 27 EU Member States plus Croatia.
More specifically, the successful candidate will work closely with the project team in general and the project leader in particular to prepare questionnaires, collect and analyse replies to the questionnaires, draft comparative descriptions of the legal and judicial training systems in the EU Member States and identify trends of the same, assist in the preparation and implementation of project related conferences and meetings, including drafting (parts of) progress reports and presentations, etc.
Job Requirements
Masters in law or Public administration – with a preference for a Masters in European Law or European Affairs – and with a good knowledge of EU legal matters in general and the functioning of a national legal system in one or more EU Member States in particular.
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in an academic, policy or consultancy environment and/or postgraduate studies in one or more fields of EU law and/or judicial systems.
Previous experience in preparing research-related questionnaires, analysing the results hereof and presenting the latter in written form will be an advantage.
Solid understanding of the EU institutional, law-making and legislative frameworks and the role of the national judiciaries in implementing EU law at the national level.
Excellent communication competencies (both spoken and written) and attention to detail;
Being a team player, including being flexible and ready to work outside normal office hours,
Sense of cultural diversity: being able to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
A fluent command of, in both writing and speaking English is essential. A solid working knowledge of German and/or other European languages will be considered an asset.
Willingness and ability to travel.
Preferably having the nationality of an EU Member State, an EEA country or a candidate country of the European Union.
The successful candidate will be offered a one-year non-extendable contract and is willing to take up the position on short notice. EIPA offers an attractive salary in addition to 8% holiday allowance, as well as a considerable number of holidays.
